At iKhethelo Children’s Village, we believe every child carries a dream worth nurturing—and Fusi’s story is living proof.

From a young age, Fusi loved being in the kitchen. Duriing his years at iKhethelo, from a young boy, Fusi loved to cook. With the help of his house mom and having to cook for the other boys in his house, home becamse the training ground for his future. What started as a spark quickly became a passion, and it wasn’t long before Fusi began dreaming of becoming a professional chef.

After finishing school, Fusi’s dream took a bold step forward thanks to a generous couple from a local church who saw his potential and believed in his future. Their sponsorship enabled him to study at the prestigious 1000 Hills Chef School in Botha’s Hill, just a short drive from the village. There, Fusi didn’t just learn the art of fine cuisine—he thrived. His creativity, dedication, and heart for excellence set him apart in the kitchen.

Today, Fusi is living out his dream on the high seas. For the past eight months, he’s been working as a chef on a cruise ship, traveling the world, experiencing new cultures, and gaining invaluable culinary experience. He’s now home for a short break, reuniting with family and village friends before he sets sail once again for another 8-month contract.
